OTE Temp

Purpose of the team

The orientation, training and education team is responsible for scheduling KDD seminar speakers and talks at the start of the semester as well as managing reading group schedules and talks.

Additionally, members of the OTE team ensure also works with the division leads of research groups such as Computer Vision (CV), Natural Language (NL) and Reinforcement Learning (RL) on materials for training, learning and education. For example, training sessions on annotation of images for object detection and classification tasks in computer vision may be held for multiple teams.

Responsibilities for all team members

All OTE team members must:

  • Maintain the schedule for the KDD seminar/colloquium (held weekly during the academic year)
  • Maintain the schedule for the weekly KDD reading group (held weekly during the academic year and approximately weekly during the summer)
  • Deliver orientation sessions to new KDD members
  • Coordinate training sessions (held by the faculty, research staff, and students) for KDD members
  • Curate educational resources for KDD members

Responsibilities for team leads

In addition to the duties of all team members, team leads must:

  • Work with the members of the #wiki team to create and maintain wiki pages to support orientation, training, education, the KDD colloquium, or the KDD reading group, and design, implement, and test any new wiki features for these activities of the KDD group.
  • Ensuring the proper delegation of tasks to OTE members, along with their associated deadlines.
